Chapter 16 |
| |
1. |
The God of Sterility submits to Baal.
2. |
He conceeds the kingship to the Lord of Earth.
3. |
Baal returns to the Heights of Saphon, but Anath does not go with Him.
4. |
She turns Her anger to the enemies of Baal.
5. |
To those who were fickle against Baal in His trials.
6. |
She attacks mankind.
7. |
Like the fruit of seven daughters, The scent of kids and anhb-animals, Both gates of Anath's house.
8. |
And the lads chance upon the Lady of the Mountain.
9. |
And lo, Anath smites in the valley, Fighting between the two cities.
10. |
She smites the people of the seashore, Destroys mankind of the sunrise.
11. |
Under Her are heads like vultures.
12. |
Over Her are hands like locusts, Like thorns, the hands of troops.
13. |
She piles up heads on Her back, She ties up hands in Her bundle.
14. |
Knee-deep She plunges in the blood of soldiery, Up to the neck in the gore of troops.
15. |
With a stick She drives out foes, Against the flank She draws Her bow.
16. |
And lo, Anath reaches Her house, Yea the Goddess enters Her palace,
17. |
But is not satisfied.
18. |
She had smitten in the valley, fought between the two cities.
19. |
She hurls chairs at the troops,
20. |
Hurling tables at the soldiers,
21. |
Footstools at the heroes.
22. |
Much She smites and looks, Fights and views.
23. |
Anath guts their liver with laughter.
24. |
Her heart is filled with joy, for Anath's hand is victory.
25. |
For knee-deep She plunges in the blood of soldiery, Up to the neck in the gore of troops.
26. |
Until She is sated She smites in the house,
27. |
Fights between the two tables,
28. |
Shedding the blood of soldiery.
29. |
Pouring the oil of peace from a bowl,
30. |
The Virgin Anath washes Her hands,
31. |
The Progenitress of Heroes, Her fingers.
32. |
She washes Her hands in the blood of soldiery,
33. |
Her fingers in the gore of troops.
34. |
Arranging portions by the chairs,
35. |
Tables by the tables,
36. |
Footstools She arranges by the footstools.
37. |
She gathers water and washes
38. |
With dew of heaven,
39. |
Fat of earth,
40. |
Rain of the Rider of Clouds,
41. |
The dew that the heavens pour,
42. |
The rain that the stars pour.
43. |
The anhb-animals leap by the thousand acres,
44. |
The zuh-fish in the sea, by the myriads of hectares.
