Chapter 7 |
| |
1. |
Then She (the Virgin Anath) sets face toward the Lord of Saphon's crest
2. |
By the thousand acres,
3. |
Yea the myriad hectares.
4. |
The Virgin Anath laughs.
5. |
She lifts Her voice And shouts: "Be informed, Baal!
6. |
Thy news I bring!
7. |
A house shall be built for Thee as for Thy brothers,
8. |
Even as a court as for Thy kin!
9. |
The mountains will bring Thee much silver.
10. |
The hills, the choicest of gold;
11. |
The mines will bring Thee precious stones,
12. |
And build a house of silver and gold.
13. |
A house of lapis gems!"
14. |
Aliyan Baal rejoices.
15. |
The mountains bring Him much silver,
16. |
The mines bring Him precious stones.
17. |
Kothar-u-Khasis is sent.
18. |
After Kothar-u-Khasis arrived,
19. |
He sets an ox in front of Him.
20. |
A fatling directly before Him. |
21. |
A chair is placed,
22. |
And He is seated
23. |
At the right of Aliyan Baal,
24. |
Until They have eaten And drunk.
25. |
And Aliyan Baal declares: "Hurry, let a house be built.
26. |
Hurry, let a palace be erected!
27. |
Hurry, let a house be built.
28. |
Hurry, let a palace be erected
29. |
In the midst of the heights of Saphon!
30. |
A thousand acres the house is to comprise,
31. |
A myriad hectares, the palace!"
32. |
And Kothar-u-Khasis declares:
33. |
"Hear, O Aliyan Baal! |
34. |
Percieve, O Rider of Clouds!
35. |
I shall surely put a window in the house,
36. |
A casement in the midst of the palace!"
37. |
And Aliyan Baal replies: "Do not put a window in the house,
38. |
A casement in the midst of the palace!
39. |
Let not Pidray, girl of Light,
40. |
Nor Tallay, girl of rain,
41. |
Be seen by El's beloved Yam Nahar!"
42. |
The Lord reviles and spits.
43. |
And Kothar-u-Khasis replies: "Thou wilt return, Baal, to My word."
44. |
Of ceders His house is to be built,
45. |
Of bricks is His palace to be erected.
46. |
He goes to Lebabob and it's trees,
47. |
To Syria and the choicest of it's cedars.
48. |
Lo, Lebanon and it's trees,
49. |
Syria and it's cedars.
50. |
Fire is set on the house,
51. |
Flame on the palace.
52. |
Behold a day and a second,
53. |
The fire eats into the house,
54. |
The flame into the palace.
55. |
A fifth, a sixth day,
56. |
The fire eats into the house,
57. |
The flame in the midst of the palace.
58. |
Behold, on the seventh day,
59. |
The fire departs from the house,
60. |
The flame from the palace.
61. |
Silver turns from blocks, |
62. |
Gold is turned from bricks. |
