Chapter 12
The 4th of the Five Hymns to Amen (Leiden Papyrus)

1.
200th Chapter.
2.
Secret of manifestations and sparkling of shape.

3.
Marvellous God, rich in forms.

4.
All gods boast of Him,

5.
to magnify themselves in His beauty,

6.
to the extent of His Divinity.

7.
The Holy Spirit (Divine Light) himself is united with His body.

8.
He is the great one in Heliopolis.

9.
He is called Heaven.
10.
Amen, who comes out of Heaven,

11.
to guide the peoples.
12.
Another of His forms are the Eight gods of the unmanifest void,
13.
primeval one of the primeval ones, begetter of the Divine Light (Holy Spirit).

14.
He completed himself as the Son (of God),
15.
being of one body with him.
16.
He is the Universal Lord,
17.
who initiated that which exists.

18.
His Soul, they say, is the one who is in the sky.

19.
He is the one who is in the netherworld,
20.
foremost of the East.
21.
His Soul is in the sky, His body in the West.

22.
His statue is in southern Heliopolis, elevating His body.

23.
One is Amen, who keeps Himself concealed from them,

24.
who hides Himself from the gods,

25.
no one knowing His nature.
26.
He is more remote than the sky,
27.
He is deeper than the netherworld.

28.
None of the gods knows His true form.

29.
His image is not unfolded in the papyrus rolls.

30.
Nothing certain is testified about Him.

31.
He is too secretive for His Majesty to be revealed,
32.
He is too great to be enquired after,

33.
too powerful to be known.

34.
People immediately fall face to face into death

35.
when His Name is uttered knowingly or unknowingly.
36.
There is no god able to invoke Him by it.

37.
He is Soul-like, hidden of name, like His Secrecy.
