Chapter 9 |
| |
1. |
Now the archon who is weak has three names.
2. |
The first name is YHWH,
3. |
the second is Saklas, the deceiver,
4. |
and the third is Satan.
5. |
And he is impious in his arrogance which is in him.
6. |
For he said, I am God and there is no other God beside me, for he is ignorant of his strength, the place from which he had come.
7. |
And the archons created seven powers for themselves,
8. |
and the powers created for themselves six angels for each one until they became 365 angels.
9. |
And these are the bodies belonging with the names: the first is Amen, a he has a sheeps face;
10. |
the second is Elohim, he has a donkeys face;
11. |
the third is Astaphaios, he has a hyenas face;
12. |
the fourth is Yah, he has a serpents face with seven heads;
13. |
the fifth is Sabaoth, he has a dragons face;
14. |
the sixth is Adonai, he had a monkeys face;
15. |
the seventh is Shaddai, he has a shining fire-face.
16. |
This is the sevenness of the week.
17. |
But YHWH had a multitude of faces, more than all of them, so that he could put a face before all of them, according to his desire, when he is in the midst of seraphs.
18. |
He shared his fire with them; therefore he became lord over them.
19. |
Because of the power of the glory he possessed of his mothers light, he called himself God.
20. |
And he did not obey the place from which he came.
21. |
And he united the seven powers in his thought with the authorities which were with him.
22. |
And when he spoke it happened.
23. |
And he named each power beginning with the highest: the first is goodness with the first (authority), Amen;
24. |
the second is foreknowledge with the second one, Elohim;
25. |
and the third is divinity with the third one, Astraphaio);
26. |
the fourth is lordship with the fourth one, Yah;
27. |
the fifth is kingdom with the fifth one, Sabaoth;
28. |
the sixth is envy with the sixth one, Adonai;
29. |
the seventh is understanding with the seventh one, Shaddai.
30. |
And these have a firmament corresponding to each age-heaven.
31. |
They were given names according to the glory which belongs to heaven for the destruction of the powers.
32. |
And in the names which were given to them by their Originator there was power.
33. |
But the names which were given them according to the glory which belongs to heaven mean for them destruction and powerlessness.
34. |
Thus they have two names.
35. |
And having created [...] everything, he organized according to the model of the first ages which had come into being,
36. |
So that he might create them like the indestructible ones. |
37. |
Not because he had seen the indestructible ones, but the power in him, which he had taken from his mother, produced in him the likeness of the cosmos.
