Chapter 19 |
| |
1. |
A bridal chamber is not for the animals, nor is it for the slaves, nor for defiled women; but it is for free men and virgins.
2. |
Through the Holy Spirit we are indeed begotten again, but we are begotten through Christ in the two.
3. |
We are anointed through the Spirit.
4. |
When we were begotten, we were united.
5. |
None can see himself either in water or in a mirror without light.
6. |
Nor again can you see in light without mirror or water.
7. |
For this reason, it is fitting to baptize in the two, in the light and the water.
8. |
Now the light is the chrism.
9. |
There were three buildings specifically for sacrifice in Jerusalem.
10. |
The one facing the west was called The Holy.
11. |
Another, facing south, was called The Holy of the Holy.
12. |
The third, facing east, was called The Holy of the Holies, the place where only the high priest enters.
13. |
Baptism is the Holy building.
14. |
Redemption is the Holy of the Holy.
15. |
The Holy of the Holies is the bridal chamber.
16. |
Baptism includes the resurrection and the redemption; the redemption takes place in the bridal chamber.
17. |
But the bridal chamber is in that which is superior to [...] you will not find [...] are those who pray [...] Jerusalem who [...] Jerusalem, [...] those called the Holy of the Holies
18. |
[...] the veil was rent, [...] bridal chamber except the image [...] above.
19. |
Because of this, its veil was rent from top to bottom.
20. |
For it was fitting for some from below to go upward. |
