1. |
The book of the generation of Jesus the true Messiah and high priest, a son of Aaron, the son of Zadok. |

2. |
Aaron begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Phinehas; and Phinehas begat Abishua; |
|
3. |
And Abishua begat Bukki, and Bukki begat Uzzi; and Eli descendant of Itamar, son of Aaron; and Ahitub, son of Phinehas, grandson of Eli; |
|
4. |
And Ahitub begat Ahijah; and Ahijah begat Ahimelech; and Ahimelech begat Abiathar and High Priest during the reign of David; |
|
5. |
And Zadok, the son of Ahitub the son of Amariah, the son of Meraioth, the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi of the line of Eleazar of the First Temple; |
|
6. |
And Zadok begat Ahimaaz; and Ahimaaz begat Azariah; and Azariah begat Joash; and Joash begat Jehoiarib; and Jehoiarib begat Jehosaphat; |
|
7. |
And Jehosaphat begat Jehoiada; and Jehoiada begat Pediah; and Pediah begat Zedekiah; and Zedekiah begat Azariah; and Azariah begat Jotham; and Jotham begat Urijah; |
|
8. |
And then Azariah III, son of Johanan, son of Azariah; and Azariah begat Hoshaiah; and then Shallum, son of Zadok, grandson of Ahitub, son of Amariah, son of Azariah III; |
|
9. |
And Shallum begat Hilkiah; and Hilkiah begat Azariah IV; then Seriah, son of Hilkiah; and Seriah begat Jehozadak who went unto captivity in Babylon; and Jehozadak begat Joshua; |
|
10. |
And Joshua begat Joiakim; and Joiakim begat Eliashib; and Eliashib begat Joiada; and Joiada begat Johanan; and Johanan begat Jaddua, High Priest during reign of Alexander son of Philip; |
|
11. |
And Jaddua begat Onias; and Onias begat Simon; then Eleazar, son of Onias; then Manasseh, son of Jaddua; then Onias II son of Simon; and Onias begat Simon II; |
|
12. |
And Simon II begat Onias III who was murdered whereupon his son Onias IV fled to Egypt and built the Temple at Leontopolis |
|
13. |
Then Jason, son of Simon II and brother of Onias III |
|
14. |
Then Menelaus also brother to Jason and Onias III; then Alcimus the pretender; |
|
15. |
Then Moreh Zadok, the Teacher of Righteousness and son of Onias IV; |
|
16. |
And Moreh Zadok begat Barachiah; and Barachiah begat two daughters Elisabeth and Anna; and Anna with Heli begat Mary; and Mary with Joseph begat Jesus, who is the true Messiah and High Priest. |

17. |
So all the generations of the high priests from Aaron to the true sons of Zadok, the descendents of Onias who fled his father's murderers are listed so that you might understand, that Jesus through his mother is a true descendent of the house of Aaron as he is a descendent of the line of David through his father Joseph. |

18. |
Now the birth of Jesus ben Joseph was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. |
|
19. |
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. |
|
20. |
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. |
|
21. |
And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. |
|
22. |
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet Isaiah, saying, |
|
23. |
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a woman shall conceive in purity and cleanliness, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. |
|
24. |
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: |
|
25. |
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus. |
