Chapter 2

1.
The reasonable man defence is one of the most common and most effective apologetic defences of the Catholic Church.

2.
It simply involves a friendly, media savvy person representing the church interests, whether or not they are clergy or an official representative of the Vatican. Next, it simply involves them speaking in a simple, friendly and reasonable way about why the claims they are discussing are unreasonable and/or “far fetched”.

3.
Often such persons are experienced at positioning themselves and the Church in such a light that early shots are actually taken at themselves to instantly gain credibility in the seconds or mere sentences available in media grabs.

4.
“Sure, the church did bad things”… “Sure the church had a lot of money”…”Sure there were people, even Popes who were less than perfect”. To a viewer or reader, these quick admissions make the reasonable man sound fair and balanced.

5.
So when the reasonable man questions claims as “extreme” and “far fetched”, he appears to be coming from a middle ground, a common sense position, rather than simply a religious defender.

6.
The goal then is to get the target to offer a view or position representing the most extreme of their claims. For in establishing such a view against the reasonable man, the claims, even if based on strong evidence seem less credible.

7.
The reasonable man defence will be one of the strongest initial strategies against the Supreme Bible of God. The reasonable man (or men) via different media outlets will simply be able to claim that such extremist views by definition are “too far fetched” to be believed, that they are the product of a “creative but flawed imagination”.

8.
Nor can the reasonable man strategy be simply ignored. For ignoring such approaches make the target look week and unreliable.

9.
One of the reasonable man arguments might be to claim the author is disgruntled with the Catholic Church, or somehow feels hurt towards it.

10.
Let me clarify this then for you and indeed for the Catholic Church. The author Frank O’Collins does not hate the Catholic Church, the author loves the Catholic Church.

11.
The author has never been hurt, threatened, intimidated, abused in anyway by any person associated with the Catholic Church.

12.
The author holds absolutely no bitterness, regret, anger or sense of loss towards the Catholic Church, or even using the Church as a surrogate target for anger in any way.

13.
Furthermore, every single member of clergy the author has met during his life has been pleasant, helpful and polite, whether or not they have hurt others. The author only has fond memories of all the many hundreds of people he has met that belong to the Catholic Church both religious and lay community.

14.
Nor has the author ever physically witnessed a member of the Catholic clergy behave in any uncharitable or “evil” manner, whatsoever. Indeed, it has never been the intention or wish of the author at any time during his life to bring ill repute, harm or damage the reputation of either Christianity or the Catholic Church.

15.
If a reasonable man, a person defending the Catholic faith is able to show that everything associated with the Supreme Bible of God is a lie then the author would be the happiest person in the world. If only it was a complete lie.

16.
It has been the hardest single text the author has ever written. To hate every discovery. To wish every revelation was false. To pray for a sign that the Supreme Bible is all just a big mistake.

17.
So for the personal and selfish reasons of the author, he hopes the Catholic Church will bring out a reasonable man to effectively refute the claims of this text
