An important and common End Times Prophecy is that upon the End Times and the coming of the Kingdom of God, Jerusalem will be renewed and rebuilt as a central international city.

| |
For both Christians and Jews, the position of Jerusalem as a central City for all humanity is a central prophecy to be fulfilled at the End of Days. In 1947 during the debates concerning the formation of Israel, Jerusalem very nearly became that international city foretold in prophecy. But the motion was defeated and the state of Israel was created, splitting Jerusalem in two.

For Jews, the central prophecy associated with the restoration of Jerusalem is the rebuilding of the Temple (Ezekiel 40). Similarly, the promise associated with the return of the Christian messiah is for the Temple to be rebuilt but with greater emphasis on the political and spiritual status of Jerusalem to the world.

|
| |
This remains also a controversial prophecy, especially for Jews for while Israel technically holds Jerusalem after winning the 1967 war, Jerusalem is not yet an international city (Isaiah 11:10) .
|
|
| |
For this prophecy to be fulfilled, Jerusalem must first become an international city and a Temple honoring the singular God of the Jews, Christians and Muslims must be allowed to be built upon the Temple Mount.
