Article 19- Human happiness |
| 19.1 |
Human happiness |
| |
One of the most universal of all wants and desires of human beings is to be "free from pain", most often expressed in the positive as the "desire for pleasure, gratification and happiness."
| 19.2 |
Human happiness |
| |
While virtually all human beings seek happiness, happiness itself is paradoxically will always be linked to a unique and individual life that will experience pain, suffering and sadness.
| |
Furthermore, a life of pure happiness, free from any pain represents itself a half-life, one without season, without cycle and incomplete. Such a life defies the natural laws of the universe.
| |
Neither a nation, nor a constitution, however inspired, can architect a world of pure happiness. Yet, the quality of a nations foundation will always profoundly influence whether its citizens are generally happy, or oppressed.
| 19.3 |
Gods punishment |
| |
For many faithful in the ways of the Old Covenant and in Christian and Judaic beliefs, the belief in happiness and pleasure are seen as wicked ways and that only through an austere life shall we be saved. |
| |
A difficult and painful life we are told is Gods punishment for our wickedness and defiance of his commands. The way of the world we are told is punishment by God for our arrogance and hubris. But is it then his command for this to continue? |
| |
For anyone who professes such beliefs, it must also be so that they believe that one day the punishment will end, that one day, gods wrath and anger will end. Why then not now? Why then not by the power of the words of this constitution? |
| 19.4 |
The principle of self-love, the elimination of self-hate |
| |
It is a founding principle of this Constitution to help all true believers find value and meaning in their lives, that the greatest love and the foundation of all valid virtue is to love and respect oneself.
| |
That this constitution and by this constitution, all practices of self hate, of lack of self-respect shall be abhorred and shall never be allowed to be a practice supported by the one true The One Faith.
